We are a truly comprehensive school and so students come to us from all types of background and with different needs. We pride ourselves on treating every student as an individual and knowing how best to support them both academically and pastorally. Teaching staff get to know their students well and understand their barriers to learning so personalise their teaching to support them within the classroom.
Some students require additional support outside the classroom and so we have a wide range of academic and social and emotional interventions available. We employ English and Maths Intervention Leaders to give students short term, intensive support in these subjects. In ACE, students with additional needs can access intensive small group support such as Accelerated Reader or Lego Therapy.
Schools receive additional funding called Pupil Premium which is used to support students who have had free school meals in the last seven years, students who have been in care or who’s parents have served in the military. This is to put interventions in place to eliminate any gap with their peers.
