We believe that students will learn best when they are interested and excited by what they are learning. This comes from high quality teaching and learning and we are very lucky to have a fantastic body of talented teachers. We have high expectations and strive for quality and consistency and so there are aspects of lessons which students will see regardless of their age or the subject. For example, they will always know what they are learning, why it is relevant and how they will know if they have succeeded.
With the new exam specifications and GCSEs weighted towards exams at the end of the course, it is very important that preparation for Year 11 exams is a marathon and not a sprint. This is why we start early, from joining us in Year 7, building the knowledge, skills and resilience that students need to succeed at GCSE.
Having a highly skilled staff body is crucial to achieving this goal and so, like students, we all view ourselves as learners and are all their to improve what we do to be the best we can be. We invest in weekly training for our staff with bespoke aspects linked to our quality assurance monitoring. We also ensure that regardless of a person’s role in school, they are given all the training and development they need so that there is a positive impact on students.
