It is important that every student in school feels safe and supported. Our pastoral teams develop strong relationships with students and are able to support everyone, regardless of their problem.
We always encourage students to report any issues that they may have at the earliest possible opportunity. This will then allow the pastoral team to address the problem quickly and effectively to prevent any further escalation.
Each year group has the following structure:
- SLT link: this is a member of the Senior Leadership Team who is responsible for overseeing and supporting the year group. They specialise in the needs of that particular year group (e.g. curriculum options or transition) so will always be attached to that age group.
- Year Leader: this is a teacher with an overall responsibility for the achievement of the year group. The Year Leader has oversight of the behaviour, attendance and achievement of their year group and will remain attached to their year group each academic year.
- Learning Managers: every year group has a non-teaching Learning Manager who is able to provide effective pastoral support every day. The Learning Manager often focuses on improving behaviour but they provide early intervention and support for students experiencing other issues such as bullying or academic underachievement. Like Year Leaders, they move with the cohort of students every academic year.
- Form Tutors: every student has a form tutor who they see on a daily basis. For most students, their Form Tutor is the primary source of support at school and will build a strong relationship with them. If there are any questions or issues, the form tutor will be the first contact for students and parents. Form Tutors will remain with their form each academic year.
Please contact the Year Leader or Learning Manager if you have any questions or concerns.
Any bullying issues will be rapidly and robustly investigated. We have a zero tolerance approach to bullying and will always support victims of bullying in any way we can. The Anti-Bullying Policy sets out our response to incidents.
