We strongly believe in students being able to access a wide and rich curriculum and aim to offer this while ensuring that all students have meet the appropriate government set qualifications. Our curriculum model allows students to select options which suit their learning needs.
Generally in Year 8, students will select three options to study during Years 9 and 10. In Year 10, they will agree a personalised pathway for Year 11. This may be
- studying additional Science to gain separate GCSEs in Biology, Chemistry and Physics
- a further option for Year 11 to complete in one year as a bridging subject to Post 16 e.g. Sociology or Psychology
- consolidating skills with additional Maths and English for students who are not likely to meet the required government standard.
Students choose their options during the spring term of their Year 8 and 10. An option information evening for each year launches the process and allows you to understand what subjects are available. Staff will be happy to offer advice and guidance during this time.
