As a “student-centered learning community” it is vital that every student feels that they are a valued part of the school and their contribution is respected. We have a very inclusive culture and strong support systems for students with additional needs. They thrive in ACE and are happy as well as making fantastic progress.
We have high expectations for our students and do not tolerate any form of disruptive behaviour, bullying or discrimination. The Stages of Behaviour system allows students chances to modify and correct their behaviour at the same time as eradicating low level behaviour issues.
We have strong safeguarding and welfare processes. Our Child Protection systems have been externally audited and found to be high quality and robust. We are lucky to have a fantastic Safer Schools Officer who is based solely at Royds. He is an invaluable source of advice and information to help students keep safe. He works closely with families and the local community to support them with any issues they may be experiencing.
