Each year group has the following structure:
- Progress Directors: this is a member of the Middle Leadership Team who is responsible for overseeing the academic progress of their allocated year groups. They specialise in the needs of that particular year group (e.g. curriculum options) so will always be attached to that age group. They work closely with Heads of Department to identify students who require additional support and address academic issues at an early stage.
- Pastoral Leader: this is a teacher with an overall responsibility for the welfare and wellbeing of their allocated year groups. The Pastoral Leader has oversight of the behaviour, attendance and safety of their year groups.
- Learning Managers: every year group has a non-teaching Learning Manager who is able to provide effective pastoral support every day. The Learning Manager often focuses on improving behaviour but they provide early intervention and support for students experiencing other issues such as bullying or academic underachievement. Learning Managers move with the cohort of students every academic year.
- Form Tutors: every student has a form tutor who they see on a daily basis. For most students, their Form Tutor is the primary source of support at school and will build a strong relationship with them. If there are any questions or issues, the form tutor will be the first contact for students and parents. Form Tutors will remain with their form each academic year.
Any bullying issues will be rapidly and robustly investigated. We have a zero tolerance approach to bullying and will always support victims of bullying in any way we can. Our strong response to incidents of bullying was recongised by the Anti-Bullying Alliance awarding us their Gold status.
The Anti-Bullying Policy sets out our response to incidents.
